Sourcing Sofa Beds for Retailers and Interior Projects
Updated: Oct 1
For retailers, design studios and fit-out businesses, a sofa bed needs to match a defined use case. A showroom model, a guest apartment and a hotel room can require different specifications. Establish how the product will be used before comparing prices or selecting upholstery.
Specify both seating and sleeping use
Request the overall dimensions and the dimensions with the bed mechanism open. Confirm the sleeping surface, storage arrangement and the clearance needed to operate the mechanism. Include room plans where space is limited. Product dimensions should be checked against doors, lifts and the delivery route as well as the final room.
Assess the relevant product details
Ask about the mechanism, mattress or sleeping surface, frame construction and care instructions. If you need a particular fabric performance or a documented requirement for commercial use, state it in the brief and request the relevant documentation for the actual fabric and configuration. A marketing description should not substitute for confirmation of your project specification.
Separate quantities from configurations
List the number of units for each model, size, colour and orientation. This makes it easier to establish whether order requirements can be met and to compare suitable alternatives. For a retail range, distinguish samples from repeat supply. For a project, distinguish firm requirements from items still subject to design approval.
Confirm the supply scope
Check production timing, packaging, transport, unloading and installation as separate parts of the proposal. Establish which services are included and which require a separate arrangement. Lead times and minimum quantities are product-specific; they should be confirmed before you make commitments to your own customer.
The Lavish Designs works with established furniture retailers and project businesses. Send your company or portfolio link, reference models, quantities, delivery location and target timing to request a relevant B2B proposal.
